Dear Shorewood Hills Community,
I have an exciting leadership announcement to share with you today. As we work through transition in the district, we have a team of amazing leaders across schools and sites who are doing great work every day, and today’s announcement is a testament to that. Today, we’ll be announcing the placement of Anne Gillespie as Interim Principal of Shorewood Hills Elementary.
Anne has been in education for 19 years, including 12 years in principal roles. She began her career in 2001 as a teacher with Chicago Public Schools before traveling to Frankfurt, Germany, to teach sixth grade and Frankfurt International School in 2003. Ms. Gillespie returned to Chicago in 2006 as an Assessment Specialist for Aspira Charter Schools before serving as Principal for the Academy for Global Citizenship in Chicago. Ms. Gillespie came to Madison in 2016 as Chief Academic Officer for the Boys & Girls Club of Dane County, before beginning her career with MMSD as Assistant Principal at Sennett Middle School where she has served in that role since 2017. She received her M.Ed. from National Louis University - Chicago and her Bachelor of Science from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in Anthropology and African American Studies, and will complete her Ed.D. from the University of Illinois - Chicago in 2022.
Ms. Gillespie looks forward to being a part of the Shorewood family, and we ask that you join us in congratulating her in her new role.
