Volunteer Training

All volunteers and Partnership Staff members are asked to complete the Building Safety & Security Protocols and the Volunteer Orientation training.

MMSD is committed to anti-racist practices, equity, inclusion, and upholding our core beliefs. These trainings are in alignment with that vision, and it's important for volunteers to have a shared understanding. MMSD places a high value on safety and well-being; these training modules are important for the safety and well-being of students, staff, and volunteers.

The trainings are available asynchronously (recorded). The Building & Student Safety Training is required and takes approximately 15 minutes to complete. The Onboarding Training provides grounding in MMSD anti-racist mission/vision, identity and relationships, and strategies. This takes approximately one hour to complete and is highly recommended. The Literacy Training was created thinking of community, volunteers, and family members who are seeking ways to impact scholars' trajectory toward literacy. This 30-minute course is designed with a series of videos that briefly explain why, and quickly move into how to support literacy development.
