Building for the Future Groundbreakings Set for March 30
The Madison Metropolitan School District invites the community to celebrate two Building for the Future groundbreaking ceremonies Monday, March 30, 2026. These events mark the official start of construction on new, combined campuses for Sherman Middle School and Malcolm Shabazz City High School, and Gompers Elementary School and Black Hawk Middle School.
Made possible by the community’s support of the 2024 Referendum, these projects will create modern, inclusive learning environments designed to support collaboration and student success.
Groundbreaking Schedule:
10:30 a.m. — Sherman Middle School / Malcolm Shabazz City High School

1:15 p.m. — Gompers Elementary School / Black Hawk Middle School
